Constraints with a Polytomous Model

چکیده
A study was conducted to extend the sequential probability ratio testing (SPRT) procedure with the polytomous model under some practical constraints in computerized classification testing (CCT), such as methods to control item exposure rate, and to study the effects of other variables, including item information algorithms, test difficulties, item pool sizes, and widths of the indifference region in SPRT. SPRT was applied for polytomous items under the generalized partial credit model of E. Muraki (1992) . Monte Carlo simulation technique was used. Independent variables manipulated were: (1) item information algorithm; (2) item exposure control methods; (3) location of the theta cut point (test difficulty) ; (4) item pool size; and (5) width of indifference region in SPRT. Item parameters from the 1996 National Assessment of Educational Progress were used to build the item pool, and item response data were generated for 10,000 simulated examinees. Polytomous items were found to work well with the SPRT procedure in CCT. Considerations in using the procedure are discussed. (Contains 5 tables and 18 references.) Evaluation Psychometric Characteristics of the Persian Version of the Colorado Learning Attitudes about Science Survey Using polytomous Item Response Model
Goal: Researchers in the field of science education believe that peoplechr(chr('39')39chr('39'))s attitudes about learning will have a significant impact on their future learning and what they learn from science will not be unrelated to their views and attitudes. Accordingly, most questionnaires have been developed to measure attitudes toward science, especially about physics learning attitudes...
متن کاملBayesian estimation and test for factor analysis model with continuous and polytomous data in several populations.
The main purpose of this paper is to develop a Bayesian approach for the multisample factor analysis model with continuous and polytomous variables. Joint Bayesian estimates of the thresholds, the factor scores and the structural parameters subjected to some simple constraints across groups are obtained simultaneously. The Gibbs sampler is used to produce the joint Bayesian estimates. It is sho...
متن کاملBayesian Estimation and Model Selection of Multivariate Linear Model with Polytomous Variables.
This article provides a Bayesian analysis of the multivariate linear model with polytomous variables. The computational burden due to the intractable multiple integrals induced by the polytomous variables and the model is solved by augmenting the underlying latent continuous measurements of the observed polytomous data. A Gibbs sampler algorithm is implemented to produce the Bayesian estimate. ...
متن کاملPolytomous diagnosis of ovarian tumors as benign, borderline, primary invasive or metastatic: development and validation of standard and kernel-based risk prediction models
BACKGROUND Hitherto, risk prediction models for preoperative ultrasound-based diagnosis of ovarian tumors were dichotomous (benign versus malignant). We develop and validate polytomous models (models that predict more than two events) to diagnose ovarian tumors as benign, borderline, primary invasive or metastatic invasive. The main focus is on how different types of models perform and compare....
متن کاملLocally Dependent Latent Trait Model for Polytomous Responses with Application to Inventory of Hostility Edward H. Ip Wake Forest University
Psychological tests often involve item dusters that are designed to solicit responses to behavioral stimuli. The dependency between individual responses within dusters beyond that which can be explained by the underlying trait sometimes reveals structures that are of substantive interest. The paper describes two general classes of models for this type of locally dependent responses. Specificall...
